"The latest MU Law Poll found that 72% of respondents favor cutting public university funding or keeping it the same. A recent poll by the Institute for Reforming Government found that 59% of voters favor freezing or cutting overall state spending." @SenHutton @ReformingGovt
Our constituents expect those they elect to be good managers of tax dollars, not just spend slightly less than those on the other side of the aisle. Lawmakers have an opportunity to get it right and we should take it. maciverinstitute.com/perspectives/b…

Georgia joins the growing list of states working to eliminate their state income tax, led by Lt Gov (and candidate for Gov) Burt Jones. We need that type of focus in Wisconsin. wrdw.com/2025/07/17/lie…
LFB reports the total spending of the Wisconsin state budget deal at $111 billion. That's a more than 12% increase. With a $1.2 billion structural deficit. Yikes.

As the state budget work continues in Madison, a reminder that voters want state spending controlled or cut. They do NOT want increases in state spending. From our April poll:

🚨ACT 20 READING UPDATE🚨 The Supreme Court ruled against the Governor and DPI. Funding can fix reading the way it is supposed to be fixed! Breaking the agreement did not make sense in the first place, so can we PLEASE just copy Mississippi and Massachusetts already? See below.
NEWS: Unanimous Wisconsin Supreme Court rules @GovEvers exceeded his authority in partially vetoing bill in reading package even though it included no appropriation. Also rules Joint Finance didn't improperly withhold funds from DPI appropriated in package.
Wisconsinites want a state budget that controls spending. Our April poll found 70% want spending tied to inflation+population growth.
