Having played chess at a young age, I know the transformational impact it can have on young people. That's why today we're allocating £1.5m to help identify, support, and elevate top-tier players who have the potential to compete at a global level.
Finally, after years of us both trying, the legendary Tunde and I met up at ChessFest today. It is my absolute privilege to have met this unique and phenomenally inspirational man.
ChessFest was blessed by having Stanley's older brother, Frankie, who is also an FM. Frankie certainly put the public through their paces in both the simuls and the Masters' tent.
An acceptable excuse for missing #ChessFest but don't do it again. Congratulations Stanley.

What a scorcher! Yesterday's #ChessFest saw over 20k descend on Trafalgar Square and play tens of thousands of games of chess. 40 of our tutors delivered over a thousand free lessons and over 800 members of the public took up the gauntlet in our "Challenge the Master" tent. (1/2)
