“Marks don’t matter” is an internet hoax. They do especially early on, and again in the first few years after uni. So get the grades. But also: join stuff. Go out. Make friends. Have fun. Do it all. Don’t pick one thing and call it discipline. Let uni stretch you, not shrink you

We made the story! The East Africa Poetic Hour Battle has been featured in Nation Africa @NationAfrica, not just as an event, but as part of something bigger: A borderless East Africa where poets can travel, share, and build together — no visa, just vision.
And two of our very own @ChaigaDestiny from #Uganda and @FelicityMudis from #Kenya, were named for the growth they have lived through - Gaining confidence, - Performing beyond borders, - Building movements of their own back home.

The universe has a way of reminding me where to go each time I feel low-spirited with my art. I got published in @NationAfrica yesterday courtesy of my 2022 participation in @HourPoetic Find the article here nation.africa/africa/culture…

Yesterday, as @RefugeeMHNetwrk we held a mental health session with women from the Sudanese community, many of them new arrivals, speaking only English. This particular session moved me to my core and was a reminder that no matter how hard this work gets, I cannot give up.
