We are a Catholic primary school in Newtown in Birmingham. Lux est in Christo
This week year 2 thought about ways we can be closer to God and make good choices. They chose to go outside and clean up any rubbish as stewards of God’s creation #Year2 #PrayerandLiturgy
This week in Year 2, as part of our outdoor learning we went exploring round our school grounds. This was linked to our Science learning (Living things and their habitats) and we found a range of things that are living, dead and never lived #outdoorlearning

#prayerandliturgy Reception have had a special prayer service for our jubilee pledge day. We listened to the story of Jesus and the children. We went forth with each thinking about about how we can show God’s love.

Year 5 went outside to experience our grounds using all of our senses - sight, hearing, smell and touch.

This week in year 2, as part of outdoor learning, the children did some drama in small groups. This group decided to act out the process of recycling that they had previously learnt about! #outdoorlearning
For Outdoor Learning Week, Year 5 had an outdoor Art lesson. After Mr Paine had introduced the work of the Abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky, we went outside to do a whole class picture inspired by one of his paintings.

In Year 2 on Friday, we have looked at how we can be kind and work for the common good. We wrote our own pledges based on Catholic Social Teaching and we looked at the Feeding of the 5000 and good deeds we can do. @CAFODSchools #JubileePledgeDay

Year 2 started off outdoor learning week with a visit to the forest school. We pretended we were the children in the story of the Selfish Giant and thought of nouns and adjectives about the garden. #outdoorlearning

In Year 3 today, we have looked at how we can be peacemakers. We have had a fantastic day and we have written our own pledges based on Catholic Social Teaching. @CAFODSchools #JubileePledgeDay

Our Year 6 pupils wrote their own pledges on how they will be Pilgrims of Hope this Jubilee Year, inspired by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching. ✨@CAFODSchools A beautiful expression of faith, action and hope for the future. #JubileePledgeDay #CatholicSocialTeaching

We explored what #JubileePledgeDay is all about — a powerful moment to reflect, take action, and renew our commitment to justice. 🌍✝️ Through Catholic Social Teaching, we learned how our pledge is deeply rooted in faith, dignity, and solidarity. #Jubilee2025 @CAFODSchools

Mr. Paine started our #JubileePledgeDay with a celebration of the Word, reflecting on how Catholic Social Teaching connects to our pledge. We’re inspired to live as pilgrims of hope, bringing justice, compassion, and care to the world. ✨🙏 #PilgrimsOfHope @CAFODSchools

What a lovely vocations week year 2 had! They had a visitor from a doctor, a lawyer, someone who helps the environment, a deacon, someone who works at the radio, and a medal winning athlete! They absolutely loved it and spoke about their hopes for the future.

Our school nurse visited Year 6 to talk about the importance of taking care of our teeth. We will definitely follow her advice because, at St. Chad’s, we love singing—and we need our teeth to be able to do this!

Y4 pupils lead prayer for The Sacred Heart of Jesus.🙏

Today in Year 2 we celebrated the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. We gathered by singing a song about Jesus’ love, we listened to a piece of scripture, we responded by drawing hearts and went forth thinking of one way to show love today #Year2 #PrayerandLiturgy

#PrimaryFutures Reception enjoyed our visit from Deacon Keith. He talked to us about how he was called to be a Deacon and how we can use our talents to follow God.

Our very own Mr Lewis came to visit Y6 to talk all about his athletic career. A very inspiring talk about never giving up and pushing yourself to the limit. Thank you Mr Lewis. #vocations #futuregoals

Year 5 had a visit from Abu who told us about his work as a respiratory scientist. Three of us got to take a breathing test. #VocationsWeek
