When people talk about painting in 3D space, most think of Blender's Grease Pencil and some may even believe it was Blender's invention. However, painting in 3D was first introduced in Maya v4 back in 2001. Here's a quick sketch I did in @AdskMaya using its paint effect system.

In 2012, I created a metaball script for @AdskMaya and rendered a test image using Fryrender. now after all these years i'm trying to recreate it, but I just can’t nail the original shape and lighting. Still, thanks to @arnoldrenderer , the image is also quite pleasing to look at

This is all @AdskMaya viewport! I tried to create a light probe system using Bifrost for real-time lighting. The background uses X-Ray, but the sphere's lighting is fully Bifrost-driven. It’s early-stage, so the lighting detail isn’t great, sadly I never got to finish it

I've been doing simulation and vfx studies for years and I must say, Bifrost MPM is just mind-blowing. The simulation quality and performance are on another level. and Yes, I think it's better than Houdini. Made in @AdskMaya and Bifrost, rendered with @arnoldrenderer
