#PILG2024 Water must be allocated in the public interest. Cases like Msez see objection as being anti development. However, it is clear that this particular case is people over profit, and that is by no means in the public interest.
#PILG2024 Water systems are interrelated and very delicate. We live in a water scarce country, and actions like this have potentially disastrous effects on millions of South Africans. This must be considered in the context of climate change.
#PILG2024 Public participation under applications for water license are not at all clear. Furthermore the paperwork tends to be hundreds of pages, which makes that process ineffective. People cannot meaningfully participate in such a process.
