Central Oregon NewsGuild
@CentraloregonNG
As the reporters, photographers and news assistants of The Bulletin and The Spokesman, we are proud of the journalism we do to inform and empower our community
EO Media Group announced today that the company is being sold to Carpenter Media Group. We are immensely disappointed not to be locally owned anymore.
We applaud the Everett NewsGuild's historic one-day strike! Please consider donating to the Guild's strike fund: gofundme.com/f/everett-news…
Gooooood morning, @EverettHerald readers! Please support our strike by refusing to cross the picket line. Do not read or engage with @EverettHerald today. And if scab workers from Carpenter Media Group contact you, please decline to provide an interview. ✊✊✊

Tomorrow morning we will be going on a 24-hour strike. We'd rather be working on stories about the community we love, but our hand has been forced. Please read the press release below, then come say hi to us as we march up Colby!
Good morning! Our members in Everett are striking starting NOW and will continue through the afternoon. * Don't cross the picket line! * Send letters of support to the newspaper * Consider donating to the strike fund: gofundme.com/f/everett-news…

Our members will be at the NorthWest Crossing farmers market in Bend this morning to urge community members to participate in our letter-writing campaign. actionnetwork.org/letters/protec…
EO Media intends to lay off two members of the @CentraloregonNG and slash another member’s hours, weakening local news coverage in Central Oregon. Employees want our help urging EO to work with its employees to find another path forward. actionnetwork.org/letters/protec…
Central Oregon journalism needs your support. Please consider participating in our letter-writing campaign as we continue to provide dedicated community journalism and bargain for our future. actionnetwork.org/letters/protec…
What’s next after Oregon newspapers’ black Monday? oregonlive.com/business/2024/…
Ok, I've had a little bit of time to think about the impending end of EO Media Group. Short answer: it sucks. An already under-resourced part of the state is going to have skeleton crews covering a tiny fraction of the news worthy of coverage.
A good look at the bigger picture of Oregon's media landscape, and why this week's shakeup/layoffs are a glimpse of what can go wrong, even if your news operation is trying to do the right things. oregonlive.com/business/2024/…
The Bulletin and papers of EO Media lost a lot of talent today bendbulletin.com/localstate/eo-…
The gutting of local news across the country is the type of damage that could reshape how people understand their communities for a long time. If you think journalism brings a value, consider financially supporting places you want to see survive. None of us are immune.
EO Media Group’s unionized employees respond to mass layoffs

The Central Oregon NewsGuild and EO Media Group marked their first day of bargaining today with collaborative and productive conversations. The NewsGuild is committed to enshrining the legacy of sustainable journalism in Central Oregon as we work to establish a fair contract.

We support Los Angeles Times staffers in their one-day strike. Like them, we intend to fight for layoff protections. The future of this industry is stake and we applaud the LA Times Union for making a historic stand.
