✨Life update✨ Hey, JMU Nation, you didn’t think you’d actually gotten rid of me, right? Good, because after an almost three-year break, I’m back on the JMU football beat. I’m so excited to share that I’m returning to the ’Burg after accepting a position with @DNR_Sports. 1/2

Not quite the same line, but Dowell Loggains said that since leaving South Carolina, he's had people say, "I'm sure you're glad to be out of that conference (SEC)." He said that's not necessarily the case because the SBC is tough top to bottom and has a lot of one-score games.
ULM head coach Bryant Vincent said the Sun Belt "is the SEC of the Group of Five."
Marshall head coach Tony Gibson on what he'd do if he just focused on the Thundering Herd's first game: "Hell, I wouldn't sleep." Marshall opens the season against Georgia on Aug. 30.
Hendrick's glasses are Cartier if anyone is wondering.
on call to talk ball 🏈 #GoDukes
I asked Tent Hendrick about getting to take over the JMU football Instagram account yesterday, and I think it's safe to say he had a good time with it. "I can't believe they really let me log in."
“We're focused on the Sun Belt, and we're focused on competing. The two guys that I brought here today are seniors, and so their focus is on the Sun Belt as well." Sun Belt Notebook: Kinne, Texas State focused on Sun Belt dnronline.com/sports/college…
Talked with JMU head coach Bob Chesney this morning. He said that Alonza Barnett III would probably still be considered ahead of schedule, but isn't cleared for contact yet. The initial timeline would be about nine months from December, which would've meant being cleared for…

Hey @CatieHarper, when does JMU take the stage for SBC media day?
I sit down with Gill tomorrow afternoon and hope to get more info on the changes. I think he knows it can be done, but it does come with its challenges. In an ideal world, I think he hopes that Louisiana Tech is able to join next year so they can avoid the 13-team conference.
Marshall has been in two other FBS leagues (MAC and C-USA) that played for a couple years with 13 teams in 2 divisions. It can be done. Gill needs pressed harder on that.
This came not long after Butch Jones' comment of "We don't buy our four wins." Jones and Curt Cignetti were once in the same conference and understand what P4 programs try to do. Is it a shot at SEC teams? Sure, but Cignetti has seen the importance of wins and knows Indiana…
NEW: Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti takes shot at SEC in defense of canceled non-conference series with Virginia: "We figure we'd adopt an SEC scheduling philosophy." on3.com/news/curt-cign…
This tweet has made it to other conferences... Bryant Vincent actually made the reference twice today, including when giving credit to Keith Gill and the SBC. Here's one of the quotes: "The Sun Belt Conference, Commissioner Gill has done an unbelievable job in branding this…
ULM head coach Bryant Vincent said the Sun Belt "is the SEC of the Group of Five."
“The Sun Belt continues to rise. As respected ESPN writer Bill Connelly stated, ‘The age of Sun Belt is upon us.' The growth of this conference over the last 25 years has been truly remarkable.” Gill happy with Sun Belt's growth dnronline.com/sports/college…
I'll have a separate story on this in the next few days, but Michael Desormeaux prioritizes high school recruiting. Said there's more room for error when it comes to recruiting someone you don't know out of the transfer portal.
Charles Huff on why he took the Southern Miss job: "The 1-11 doesn't scare me." He added that he has a plan and he knows it works, so "why not Southern Miss?"
Southern Miss linebacker Chris Jones mentioned that it is harder to make friends in the game due to the state of college athletics (i.e. the transfer portal). I think that human element of college sports can be lost and not talked about enough.
Charles Huff said they're trying to "flip the script" at Southern Miss. He added that it's more than just the record — it's about everything that surrounds the program.
ULM head coach Bryant Vincent said the Sun Belt "is the SEC of the Group of Five."
I wouldn't necessarily say that Butch Jones was saying what he did as a "shot" at P4 programs. It's known that P4 programs will "buy" games they know they can/should win. G6 programs will pay teams to play them, but I wouldn't think it's with the same "I know we'll win"…
Don't fully understand this messaging lol. Arkansas State is paying Southeast Missouri $325,000 to play them on Aug. 30. The Red Wolves are also 0-5 against P4 teams since Jones took over, and they've been outscored 250-40. Maybe not the SBC coach to take shots at the P4.
Texas State, one of JMU’s SBC West opponents, has taken the stage.

Butch Jones has hinted at this line again. He's really stressed how G6 teams aren't guaranteed 4-0 in nonconference play, and they need to be able to bounce back.
Butch Jones on the difference between Power Four and Group of Six: "We don't buy our four wins."
