“Gov. Abbott doesn’t need a special session for these communities to access federal and state aid. He can act now using the powers he has used many times before, often in much less serious circumstances.” Read my opinion in the @HoustonChron: houstonchronicle.com/opinion/outloo… #txlege
“Cruelty is the only explanation for Gov. Greg Abbott’s line-item veto that wiped out $450 million in federal funds dedicated to provide summer food aid to poor children.” (cc @RepWalle & @RepToniRoseTX) #txlege
Abbott’s veto of summer food aid program is straight up cruel expressnews.com/opinion/editor…
🚨 Extremists are forcing new Congressional maps—just 3 yrs after 2021 redistricting—to carve up our communities & hold power. Speak out at the Houston hearing: Sat, July 26, 11AM, UH Main Campus. Details: capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/89R/sc… #txlege @UHouston
Today, I filed HB 126 for the special session to help Texas renters recover after disasters like the Kerr County floods by protecting displaced tenants. Read my full statement here: wallefortexas.com/press/2025hb126 #txlege
1/3 My heart is with the victims and survivors of the recent Texas floods. These communities need relief and emergency dollars fast. The truth is, Gov. Abbott doesn’t need a special session to make that happen. #txlege

1/2 Back in 2019, I worked w/ Dr. Sam Brody to create the Institute for Disaster Resilient TX. This Session, I worked hard to secure funding so that @ResilientTX at @AggiesByTheSea could continue its important work bridging the gap between research & disaster response. #txlege
I just know that everyone in #txlege is at this moment googling what “biblical grounds for divorce” are lol
The Gov's veto of the Summer EBT meals $$ for TX kids is still a disappointment. During the school year, tho, kids eligible for reduced price meals will now be fed at no cost to TX families. Proud to have worked with @RepToniRoseTX on this in the state budget this session.
It was an honor to bring home key investments in HD 140 this #txlege Session. Big things coming to North Houston/Harris County parks and water infrastructure.
Together, @CarolforTexas and I passed HB 3463 to make it easier for working Texans that get ripped off with a “hot check” to recoup lost funds #txlege
This Session, @SenBryanHughes and I passed HB 252 to allow certain state employees to get paid twice a month instead of monthly. Proud to bring home another win for working Texans! #txlege
“We fought hard to make Summer EBT a reality in Texas, because it’s a smart and necessary investment in our future. (...) This was a baffling decision and I am disappointed on behalf of the millions of Texans who would have benefitted.” @RepWalle bit.ly/3ZMsWQP
The Gov’s veto blocks TX from drawing down millions to help families feed kids in the summer. Veto reasoning doesn’t hold water. The current fed budget proposal: 1. Does not amend S-EBT rates; 2. May not change SNAP rates; & 3. Wouldn’t make SNAP changes until FY28 #txlege
We fought hard to make Summer EBT a reality in Texas. I am disappointed on behalf of the millions of Texans who would have benefitted. Read my full statement on the Summer EBT veto: #txlege wallefortexas.com/press/2025summ…

Proud that we spearheaded this effort to secure $100M for child care. Appreciate @DrGregBonnen & @joanhuffman for giving final blessing. Correction: I am not HAC Chair. Only Subcommittee Chair of Articles VI, VII, & VIII. #txlege dallasnews.com/news/education…
“For state Rep. Armando Walle, D-Houston, bringing the Summer EBT program to Texas was personal. Today, he lives not far from where he grew up in northeast Houston.” I appreciate bipartisan support for this effort so we feed hungry kids. #txlege texastribune.org/2025/06/06/tex…
We are deeply grateful to legislative champions @RepWalle and @RepToniRoseTX who worked tirelessly to ensure Summer EBT made it into the Texas state budget🧡
Big win for Texas kids! The state budget now includes $60M to launch Summer EBT in 2027—bringing vital grocery support to 3.75M children during the hungriest time of year. 👏 #NoKidHungry state.nokidhungry.org/texas/2025/06/…
