Politics - zero tolerance of cranks, crackpots, Corbynites, Hamas fans, GB News goons & conspiracist loons. Also some TV, music & tennis.
Persistent support for multiple antisemites, most notoriously Raed Salah Refusal to blame Putin for Crimea invasion (Morning Star, 2014) Old Bailey arrest for supporting IRA (1986) That’s just three examples. The idea the UK public would ever get behind such a man is laughable.

Good to see Russia struggling so much. Maybe its people might find some courage and protest en masse about the war criminal & mass murderer who’s led them into these dire straits, instead of meekly revering him like a king?
Today’s Russian papers focusing again on economic problems: ▪️ “To pay utility bills some Russians are falling into debt" ▪️ “Rise in bread prices outstripping inflation” ▪️“Cement factories on the brink” ▪️ Call to "freeze basic food prices to battle inflation" #ReadingRussia
As I’ve written many times, only antisemites say “antisemmetic”. Only Jew haters can’t be bothered to say it properly. When ‘lawyer and friend’ Jacqueline Mckenzie goes on Radio 4 and says “Diane Abbott is not antisemmetic” she damns them both, simultaneously. Quite a trick.
John McEnroe hits the nail on the head 💯 Stop what you're doing and watch this Wimbledon men's singles final 🫵 #Wimbledon
This was the first time most people ever heard Into The Groove - it was only released two days after Live Aid. No.1 two weeks later for the rest of the summer. #LiveAid #LiveAid40
Anyone currently absurdly claiming Liam Gallagher is "the best rock frontman in history" (🤣🤣) should switch to BBC2 right now and weep tears of shame #LiveAid #LiveAid40 #Queen
This performance became colloquial shorthand for perfection in live music. A disappointing show would be critiqued with "it wasn't exactly Queen at Live Aid, was it?" #LiveAid #LiveAid40
Geldof building up to boiling point now.. that table better watch out #LiveAid #LiveAid40
Dire Straits doing Money For Nothing feels like an old classic now, but it was actually a brand new song that most people hadn't heard in July 1985 #LiveAid #LiveAid40
Not sure why Don't You Forget About Me still stands up, when so much 80s power rock sounds horribly dated. But it does. #LiveAid #LiveAid40
Bono was so up himself by this point that he probably imagined he was offering some kind of spiritual healing to these girls he's pulling from the crowd #LiveAid40 #LiveAid
Bono spends so long down the front during Bad that they weren't allowed to do Pride (In The Name Of Love) as their big finale, and the rest of the band were raging #U2 #LiveAid40
Thing I'm noticing about #LiveAid40 ..most of the big young pop acts faded away fast after this. Paul Young, Nik Kershaw, Spandau, Howard Jones, Ultravox.. yet the older ones like Queen, Dire Straits, Elton, got a new lease of life. Live Aid basically invented stadium rock
Love Sade's version of Why Can't We Live Together. I had no memory of her singing this at Live Aid #LiveAid40
All You Need Is Love was only 18 years old in 1985. #LiveAid40
"Look Ma, I fucked up my Live Aid moment!!" #AdamAnt #LiveAid40
Adam Ant, with probably the best known back catalogue of the early 80s, chose to do this lumpen dirge that nobody bought. #LiveAid40
The irony of Geldof ordering everyone "JUST DO THE HITS!!", then doing Drag Me Down with the Boomtown Rats, is off the scale #LiveAid40
That "how to die" moment with his arm raised is still so powerful. Totally spontaneous. #LiveAid40
Style Council decided to do a dull political rant instead of a song that anyone knew #LiveAid40
