It’s not the new Star Trek show I was hoping for, but I’ll still be watching.
🚨 NEW TRAILER for #StarTrek: Starfleet Academy! The new first-look welcomes Cadets back to #StarfleetAcademy in San Francisco, plus introducing the new Starship - the USS Athena! 🖖 Coming Early 2026! #SDCC
Maisie and Rhys are helping with a resident sim day. They’ll get casted and will get to participate in stations. They’ve got a week to get ready and they’re already planning their acting methods for their sim stations.
I made the Tudor strawberry tart from @TastingHistory1 and it smells so, so good and I am so, so sad I’m going to have to wait until morning to try this beautiful thing. youtu.be/qJQaPvExfto?si…

My oldest has dark, thick, densely curly hair to about halfway down his back. I think going as Martok would be an epic cosplay for the Expo next year. Sadly he disagrees. Even though Martok is awesome.

Why on earth were both of my teenagers awake before me on summer holidays?!
The trailer for #ProjectHailMary played before Fantastic 4 last night & I cannot possibly tell you how excited I am for this film. Definitely my favourite recent sci-fi. I’ve read it 3 times and I can’t wait to see how they translate it to the screen. youtu.be/m08TxIsFTRI?si…
There is video of the Mounties apprehending the gunman in their kayaks. Someone added the Cops theme. If nothing else, Islanders are capable of laughing at anything.
Super sweet end of season strawberries mean I’ve got enough for four batches of jam plus a bunch of baked goods. I’m going to make a tudor strawberry tart from Tasting History, and turnovers, and other things I haven’t decided yet.

FYI PEI: @ParksCanada says the PEI National Park has been experiencing record numbers of visitors and traffic congestion and is urging visitors to check parks.canada.ca/peinow before heading out to the north shore. I heard some people were turned away last weekend! #PEIsummer
Spent the last couple months stubborning myself through an RA flare. I’ll often have a few bad days, maybe a week-ish, before it settles with NSAIDs, but this one has persisted & on Tuesday I couldn’t even fully straighten my fingers. Two days on prednisone and I’m 90% better.
Charlie’s little bitty bean plant is so rootbound (it’s in a little pot with a marigold) that it only has four leaves, but the little sucker is still growing a couple beans anyway. Life uh… finds a way.

Fantastic Four was, well, fantastic. Made me excited about a Marvel movie for the first time in a while. Definitely go see. As always I appreciate that they do end credits scenes to ensure that people stay through the names of everyone who made the film. #FantasticFour
Our internet service is down so I was going to put a DVD on (Titan AE - amazing movie) for the kids for a movie night. My Xbox series X requires Internet access. To play a DVD.
Yay my custom HEMA gear finally shipped! Should be here in a couple weeks.
9 Food Myths to Ignore medscape.com/slideshow/9-fo… Myth 3: Green powders can replace whole veggies Myth 5: Seed oils are toxic Myth 6: Avoid all "processed" foods Myth 7: Avoid carbohydrates Myth 8: Fruit spikes blood sugar Key: "a balanced, whole-food approach." No magic.
I have had to take prednisone on and off, basically my entire life. Why on earth in 2025 have drug companies not mass marketed a way to make this medication not taste like licking the arse end of a garbage chute?
This is an awful thing and all (as gun crime always is; I was in S’side when the warning went out and this stuff is scary) but I just kind of have to mention… The Mounties got their man after a pursuit in borrowed kayaks. 🇨🇦 rcmp.ca/en/pei/news/20…
Rhys asked me to come to the living room because he made “a talking place where all the people talk about important things like how to get better when you’re sick.” He said Batman is next up to speak. My kids are playing medical conference.
