What does it mean to be an authentic artist in the time of end stage capitalism? It means to be aware of the machine. It’s operations, iterations, and its effects. To write and fight outside of its tentacles. To recall your who and your why. And to not absorb the lie.

Reading a book wherein the author’s anti-colonialism & anti-misogyny intruding in the heavy, too-much-telling exposition of a male character’s POV. Writers need to let awful characters be awful. Let the reader discover and dislike. Avoid didacticism, please. Is always this press

The “male loneliness epidemic” 🙄 is directly correlated to literary illiteracy.
The book has agency, I does always say. And it continues to fill me with awe how it chooses its own people for interviews and connections. The right ones. My Caribbean people, what a joy it is to have the work find its way home 🏡💛
