First official lab dinner in almost 2 years! Together on the patio at Raleigh's, just like the before time. Photo and expert photoshopping courtesy @andylopez4444 and @CameronMorley13. Cheers to the best research group a PI could ask for. 💪🍻
New paper in Advanced Materials! Led by postdoc @CameronMorley13, we explore how the balance between inter- and intra-particle mechanics influences cell viability in microgel-based injectable formulations. doi.org/10.1002/adma.2…
Lab dinner at Berkeley Thai House! Celebrated arrivals, departures, and reunions, then on to Tap Haus to see the @warriors advance to the Finals #DubNation Proud of both teams for sticking together thru 2 tough yrs and coming out stronger than ever. #BestLabEver
Excited to share our new @ActaBio review! Covers VE properties of several natural and eng. biomaterials and how these properties influence cells. Plus a crash course on hydrogel rheology! Expertly crafted by ChemE PhD student @EmilyCarvalhoGQ. authors.elsevier.com/a/1e-1C6CFjZMO…
Kumar Lab White Elephant, 2021 edition! Followed by new lab photo and dinner on the roof at Triple Rock. Lots of coffee and blankets in the mix, so folks went home warm and caffeinated 😌☕️ Happy holidays from all of us to all of you, and very best wishes for 2022! ❄️🎄🎆
Woohoo! Congrats @kamofa_22 !!
Huge congratulations to BioE PhD student Kwasi Amofa @kamofa_22 on being named to the new class of #GilliamFellows!! We're so proud of him and look forward to participating in and learning from this amazing community of scholars. @BerkeleyBioE @UCSF_BioE @Cal_Engineer 👏🥳
I'm beyond excited to share work that I performed under guidance of @LeiRuoxing @kumarlabucb, now @ACSBiomaterials! We developed hydrogel arrays with dual stiffness and adhesivity gradients to mimic a range of extracellular matrix conditions: doi.org/10.1021/acsbio…
💡Our detailed how-to: consistently coating the walls of 3D printed vasculature with endothelial cells and culturing them under perfusion, just published! Congrats to @ian_kins_ @g_caldero and team. Out today @NatureProtocols @Rice_BIOE @RiceEngineering doi.org/10.1038/s41596…
Super cool approach to build 3D microtissues cell-by-cell. Congrats to Tommy and @SToriEllison1 for getting the tech to this stage!
Bioprinting systems can't build intricate multicellular #3D structures in a cell-by-cell manner. @uflmae & @UFHealth #researcher developed a bioprinting system that builds intricate #3D structures. The #GatorMade #technology is available for #licensing! bit.ly/MP20037T
Congrats Big T!! Great to see all of your hard work and dedication paying off. @tapomoy89
The third postdoc this year to be moving on -- we are sad to say goodbye but also thrilled that @tapomoy89 will soon be becoming Prof. Bhattacharjee! Expect exciting work at the interface of engineering, biology, and materials science from his new lab @NCBS_Bangalore!
Congratulations to Angela Pitenis on receiving an NSF Faculty Early Career award. Pitenis, a Triple-Gator earned her PhD in 2016, and is now an Assistant Professor at UC Santa Barbara. While at UF, she worked with Dr. Greg Sawyer and his Tribology Lab. materials.ucsb.edu/news/angela-pi…
Our lab is deeply grateful to have received a new @theNCI R01 on mechanisms of glioma adhesion and invasion in hyaluronic acid matrices. We're looking for postdocs interested in working at the interface of cancer, biomaterials, and mechanobiology! kumarlab.berkeley.edu/positions (1/n)
"Rapid Liquid Printing" is a 3D printing technique, created by MIT researchers, that prints things in vats of gel. And one day you could get your furniture from it [source: buff.ly/2rEH6T4]
Imagine poking a #hydrogel. How quickly does the resulting indentation smooth out? Our new @softmatter paper at doi.org/10.1039/D0SM02… describes a simple way to quantify these dynamics, which reflect the coupling between network elasticity & internal water transport. (1/6)
CONGRATS to @JSilberman_ @AakankshaJha19 and Holly Ryan! Our Review about #macrophages #endothelialcells is out! link.springer.com/article/10.100… 🥳 Thank you @Dr_ASingh and @MaiselLab 😊for the support!
We're on Twitter! Stay tuned for news and updates about upcoming talks, recent publications, and group news! And yes, that is a smiling organoid 😀
I've been talking about soft skin layers on polyacrylamide hydrogels for at least a year - and now the paper's out! Read it in Experimental Mechanics, where we probe at very low pressures. bit.ly/3lov63v #tribology We think it's these layers that make hydrogels slippery!
Please RT: The Doyle Lab is seeking a postdoc for immediate hire to work on microgel-based formulations for monoclonal antibodies. #microfluidics #hydrogels #mAbs #rheology doylegroup.mit.edu/sites/default/…
