Update on Box 495 for 1610 Cambridge St, an oven fire has been extinguished, holding Hovey Av companies, Squad 3, & Division 1 for ventilation, other companies are making up. @CambridgePolice officers are on scene for traffic diversion in the area.

Among the numerous skills reinforced during the FFOP (firefighter on probation) training today by the EMS Division was the highly important pediatric BLS (basic life support) & ALS (advanced life support) care.

II) Cambridge Police Youth Academy: It was a good educational experience to learn about the capabilities & responsibilities of the FD & MSP Marine Units. Hopefully there are some future firefighters, police officers or troopers in the group!




I) Cambridge Police Youth Academy: Today, July 28th, was another busy training day for the members of the Cambridge Youth Police Academy. They worked with the Cambridge Fire Marine Units, which included a visit to the Massachusetts State Police Marine Unit & a tour of the Harbor.




Just after 4 pm, Eng 5, Lad 1, Res 1, Sqd 3, & Div 1 responded to the vehicle into the bldg at 350 Broadway, which damaged the gas meters. Gas flow was secured. One person was treated & transp for evaluation. Duty: Group 1 @EversourceMA was on scene to shut down the gas service.

The quarters of Engine Company No. 9 on Lexington Avenue, July 28, 2025. The firefighters of Engine 9 (formerly Chemical 2) have been bravely protecting our city since 1894.

Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! Every company keeps a fresh supply of cold water on the apparatus for rehab & hydration. Engine 9 refilled their supply of water & ice earlier today. Group 1 on duty. Prevent Heat Related Injuries! At 1pm in the city, the temp was 88 degrees.




Welcome aboard to FFOPs (Firefighters on Probation) Cunningham, Plasko, Snowdon, Finnegan, & Ferri who start their orientation today, July 28, 2025. Following their orientation period & EMS review, they will be deployed to fire companies.
