"Vincere est Vivere" "To Conquer is to Live" - Motto of John Smith, Leader of the Jamestown Settelment, English Gentleman, after defeating three Turks in single combat somewhere in Romania. He was awarded this coat of arms in recognition.

If you don't care about the land you live on, you're not conservative enough.
Knew it. We think about him daily.

Hands down, the best 1 book treatment of the HRE. Much to learn for our day
Yeah Iβve been reading Heart of Europe by Peter H Wilson about the Holy Roman Empire and itβs awesome.
This man is your friend. He fights for freedom.
The friend that demands a performative denunciation as the price of his continued friendship is the one to let go.
It is a credit to Makemie that he stood by the principle and affirmed its good and proper use even as he himself was injured by its improper use.
More from Makemie on the Civil Magistrate: βSome offenses are cognizable by Officers and Magistrates in the State, as all are censureable by the Ministry, and what they cannot do by the Word, the Magistrate is to do by the Swordβ¦And that the Magistrate may do his duty, Penalβ¦
I gave this lecture a few months ago at the @Truth_Script conference. I spoke on Francis Makemie and Samuel Davies touching on their views of religious toleration and the civil magistrate. Also touched some on the Hanover Presbytery memorials to the Virginia General Assembly.

"The natural is saved by the redemptive, not done away with. And what was the central inheritance from his Germanic ancestors that the Beowulf poet wanted to explore? What is the primary virtue of the Northmen in contemporary culture? Courage." Read more belowππ»
I have no animosity against Senator Lankford. In fact, I praise him for the good work he does But his previous support for a disastrous Biden-backed border security bill and his recent hiring of a left-leaning Never Trumper raise serious questions /π§΅/ youtube.com/watch?v=ep_F5Dβ¦
Some will argue that love of fatherland and patriotism/nationalism are 19th century ideas. While not entirely wrong it is gravely erroneous to think these unique or somehow restricted to the modern period. Rather, love of people and fatherland are healthy, natural sentiments.
This is a fact that many advocates of bringing back head coverings miss. Yes women in the past wore head coverings in church. They also wore coverings everywhere. It was common cultural sign of modesty. But it was not connected to Paul's instructions in 1 Corinthians 11. 1/
What if I told you that for 1900 years Christian women did not only wear head coverings in church, but anytime they went out in public. And it had nothing to do with exegesis of 1 Corinthians 11.
βSpiritual escape is worse. Itβs cloaked in Christian language. It turns the faith into a soft therapeutic escape hatch. Men are taught that ambition is dangerous, desire is fleshly, and that the highest good is to be still, quiet, and numb.β
I think it's kind of wild that men used to write commentary sets on the whole Bible and now guys maybe write commentaries on a few books of the Bible in their lifetimes that roughly retread what all the other modern commentaries have already said.
I thought this article, which critiques a couple recent OPC general assemblies, was rather unhelpful and misleading. I think the authorβs intentions are good, but also that he undermines it by the way wrote the article. 𧡠opc.org/os.html?articlβ¦
Deficiencies in Protestant political thought today: 1. No delineated political loci 2. Political method is not systematic 3. Politics and theology are not distinguished
