America has Warren Buffett, but Japan's most famous investor is 71-year-old Kiritani, who has a portfolio of over 500 stocks totaling over 400 million yen. He does not own a car and rides around everywhere in his bicycle. He's also known for his love of shareholder perks. /1

Boomer Father in law always votes for the left leaning CDP. Kind of a random choice for an old Showa dude but just goes to show that the youth in Japan vote conservative and the boomers pretty much all vote LDP or CDP
The top 3 parties in opinion polls are all conservative, welcome to Japanese politics in 2025

Komeito has traditionally had a big base of support in Osaka (many middle and lower middle and working class Soka Gakkai members in Osaka) but they’ve seemingly lost ground there in the most recent elections. Membership base starting to age out it appears
>Coalition with the LDP since 1999, a nearly 30-year-old alliance >2009: LDP loses power, stays loyal >2024 & 2025: LDP suffers historic election defeats, stays loyal >Lose seats just for being associated with the LDP, stays loyal Everyone needs a loyal friend like Komeito

Nikkei up this morning. Divided government isn’t so bad for markets
The Japan Communist Party is an embarrassment and it’s hilarious people still think they have any relevance for anyone under 60 years old

One of the principles of the Italian Mafia is that you should never betray your wife, because if you are able to betray who trusts to close your eyes and sleep beside you, you are not worthy of anyone's trust.

Osaka Expo is great and deserves way more recognition and praise
Failing Osaka Expo that no one wants to go to has already received *checks notes* 10 million visitors in 78 days. Lot of “never do anything” types gonna have egg on their face with this one. news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/8fad7…
