Pleased to share this new publication in JPO on a very interesting topic. Thank you to @CPOrthopedics for his guidance and inspiration during this project!
Our recent study looks at the proportion of peds ortho surgeries done by pediatric orthopedic surgeons. Studies like this can help us better understand what has changed in our field and help plan for the future of our profession. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40557812/@POSN… @WashUMedOrtho

Here’s what you need to know about: Differential Risk Profiles for Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis in Pediatric Patients: A Comparative Analysis of Normal and Elevated BMI Groups. @cporthopedics bit.ly/4khOQnl
SCFE can occur in non obese patients. Our recent study shows this group of patients have different risk profiles with higher risk of hypothyroidism. Our findings suggest checking thyroid function in normal weight patients with SCFE pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40424509/
We know that SCFE patients presenting with knee pain are at higher risk for delayed diagnosis. Our recent study looks at long term effect of this delayed diagnosis. @POSNA_org @WashUMedOrtho pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40423092/
Building collaborative research team is key to success in clinical research. It will take time but it’s well worth it. After several years of hard work, it was great to see that my reserach team had 5 podium presentations and 9 Eposters @POSNA_org this year @WashUMedOrtho
@JavadShariati presented our work on trends of operative management of pediatric clavicle fractures @POSNA_org . There has been an continued increase in operative treatment of clavicle fractures in despite the literature showing little benefit of surgery

It was a great honor to present our work on the effect of Ketorolac on fracture healing in children at the Clinical Award Paper session @POSNA_org annual meeting. @WashUMedOrtho

@POSNA_org Dr. Hooper @WashUMedOrtho peds fellow presented our work on risk of displacement after non op treatment of minimally displaced Olecranon fractures in children. Please also look at our ePoster on management of concomitant radial head and olecranon.

The necessity for critical evaluation of hip X-rays to look for non displaced fractures can’t be overemphasized. These X-rays are only 4 weeks apart.

Pain control after hip reconstruction in children with #cerebralpalsy is a very important factor in recovery. Our recent paper looks at the effect of adding epidural anesthesia on the outcome of these procedures in children with cerebral palsy … pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40256873/
So excited to finally share the results of our study on risk of VTE after lower extremity fractures in children and adolescents published @jbjs. A relatively novel topic that should be studied more @WashUMedOrtho @POSNA_org … pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40245162/
Now VTE after knee arthroscopy in adolescents pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40243189/
Not much is known about risk of VTE in the adolescent population undergoing orthopedic procedures. Our most recent paper looks at this risk after hip arthroscop @POSNA_org @WashUMedOrtho . pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40237293/
