35% of lower-income parents said buying small treats for children such as an ice cream or fish and chips would be difficult or impossible this summer.

Nearly two in five parents on lower incomes said they would find it either difficult or impossible to afford a day out with their kids this summer, such as to the beach. There will be more worry than wonder this summer for millions of desperate families who can’t make ends meet.

Children's doctors shared their views and frustrations about how child poverty is affecting their patients' health in our new report with @RCPCHtweets 'I am fed up of sending children back to homes that are making them sick.'

The testimony we heard from paediatricians for our report with @RCPCHtweets was heartbreaking: 'We hear of parents who make the [milk] powder stretch for the week. And instead of the usual five scoops, they put in three or four because the tin needs to last.'
