Child Poverty Action Group is the leading charity campaigning for an end to child poverty in the UK and for a better deal for low-income families.
‘A year on, children can’t wait. Starmer must end the two-child cap now’ – our opinion piece with other organisations on @LabourList labourlist.org/2025/07/two-ch…
35% of lower-income parents said buying small treats for children such as an ice cream or fish and chips would be difficult or impossible this summer.

Nearly two in five parents on lower incomes said they would find it either difficult or impossible to afford a day out with their kids this summer, such as to the beach. There will be more worry than wonder this summer for millions of desperate families who can’t make ends meet.

NEW - we asked parents in lower-income families about the summer holidays. 44% said they were likely to need a foodbank. 48% are more worried about being able to afford things for their children this summer holiday, compared to last year. cpag.org.uk/news/challengi…
'Child poverty levels are rising & it’s no secret why. Every day, the 2-child limit pulls 109 more kids into poverty... After a year of careful inquiry, the govt knows there’s no credible path to reduced child poverty unless the policy is scrapped in full.'labourlist.org/2025/07/two-ch…
“I am deeply concerned by the condition of children arriving at frontline health services...This is a crisis that demands decisive action from government." Dr Helen Stewart in @Independent today on our new report with @CPAGUK. independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…
Children's doctors shared their views and frustrations about how child poverty is affecting their patients' health in our new report with @RCPCHtweets 'I am fed up of sending children back to homes that are making them sick.'

The testimony we heard from paediatricians for our report with @RCPCHtweets was heartbreaking: 'We hear of parents who make the [milk] powder stretch for the week. And instead of the usual five scoops, they put in three or four because the tin needs to last.'

Our new report with @CPAGUK reveals the worsening impact of child poverty on children’s health and growing strain on health services. One year since the Government’s Child Poverty Taskforce launched, the need for bold action is clearer than ever. 👇 cpag.org.uk/news/child-pov…
We worked with @RCPCHtweets to ask children's doctors about what they're seeing among their patients: 99% said poverty is contributing to ill-health among the children they treat. 79% said the impact poverty is having on the health of children is becoming more severe.
Our new research with @RCPCHtweets - 1 year on from the launch of the government's Child Poverty Taskforce, kids are experiencing more severe health issues due to poverty, placing a system already stretched thin under much more considerable strain. standard.co.uk/news/politics/…

Great video from our friends @savechildrenuk. The government must scrap the two-child limit.
Over 1.6m children are now impacted by the Two-Child Limit - 11.6% of all children This is a cruel policy that unnecessarily drags children into hardship It needs to go, and the longer it is kept, the greater the scarring effects on children's health and education will be
Latest @jrf_uk cost of living tracker (May) shows the depth of hardship for low income families with 3+ children 🛑Almost 9 in 10 (88%) went without essentials in the previous 6 months 🛑 8 in 10 (82%) were in arrears 🛑7 in 10 (71%) held a loan taken out to pay for essentials
This brutal policy is making children’s lives hard and their futures bleak. - @alisongcpag in the Guardian theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
