27 UK Catholic - Acts 4:32-37 UTD till I die Kind of politically schizo, but I despise the far right
If, as a Christian, you want the government to uphold your values on abortion, sexuality and education, why don’t you want them to reflect the Christian values of helping the poor, feeding the hungry and welcoming refugees?
Fascinating
Apr 1945: “Do you approve or disapprove of the nationalisation of land?” Approve 51%, Disapprove 30%, No opinion 19%
There's no such thing as "private religion", especially in the context of Catholicism - its not even like you're being 17th century Japan-style persecuted either. You just chose to vote in favour of euthanasia, which Catholics cannot do, how could you possibly not know that?
This was utterly disrespectful to my family, my constituents including the congregation, and the democratic process. My private religion will continue to have zero direct relevance to my work as an MP representing all my constituents without fear or favour. 3/3
Can't wait for Rerum Novarum 2 where Leo XiV calls for a Butlerian Jihad against the great evil that is A.I
Pope Leo XIV explains his choice of name: "... I chose to take the name Leo XIV. There are different reasons for this, but mainly because Pope Leo XIII in his historic Encyclical Rerum Novarum addressed the social question in the context of the first great industrial revolution.…
> 15 years of decline > Tory rule from 2010-2024 And uh which political party did you support during that time? Right, the Tories, whom you still prop up Do right-wingers never learn?
🇬🇧 Britain is no longer a rich country after 15 years of stagnation “caused UK living standards to plummet”, according to economists telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/…
Pope Francis is the first social media pope and gets WAAAAY more scrutiny than previous popes. Trads say, "We never had these problems with John Paul II" but if they had X back then you would have. No one can endure an army of self appointed theologians picking over every word.
"You have a right to a lawyer" requires the state to hire a lawyer. "You have a right to a jury trial" requires the state to assemble a panel of your peers. Does Elon think that your rights don't include a fair trial? Or is he just too stupid to think through what he posts?
Racism is not compatible with Catholicism
As always the comments section completely forgets that trans men exist and only focuses on trans women, because it's much easier for them to be an asshole to trans people when they pretend to care about women (they don't, they're mostly misogynists who think women shouldn't vote)
Do you support Allowing transgender people to use bathrooms that match their gender identity Oppose 50% Support 31% YouGov - 1/27/24
Everyone wants to try and rationally reconstruct some kind of coherent ideology but there's fucking nothing. It's all id
Goodwin's category of "mother born abroad" covers Winston Churchill as well as Kemi Badenoch, Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg. Extend it to parents and he catches King Charles III, Michael Howard & Harry Kane.
Nearly 1 in 3 children in the UK —32%— are now born to mothers who were born overseas. The highest proportion since records began —The Times
These people know they sound like sex offenders right?
Your body, my choice. Forever.
Tax as a proportion of GDP: 🇫🇷 France: 46.1% 🇩🇪 Germany: 39.3% 🇧🇪 Belgium: 42.4% 🇳🇱 Netherlands: 38% 🇩🇰 Denmark: 41.9% 🇬🇧 UK: 35.3% Taxes are not too high in the UK. The problems are inequality, low wages and austerity.
These people simultaneously; Don't want immigration Don't want tax increases Don't want to help you have children Do want pensions Do they just not understand that these 4 views are incompatible? It's going to lead to the death of this country &/or backlash against the elderly
Labour education spokesman Bridget Phillipson says she wants to make it easier for women who currently can’t afford to have more children - to have them. And who will pay for the children these women can’t afford to have? Oh Yes - the rest of us!
