NY just became the first state to codify & fund a permanent OGVP since the WHOGVP’s closure 🧡 — stepping up with dedicated infrastructure. Shoutout to our Deputy Director of Legislative Advocacy, Tarria Stanley, for her tireless work alongside partners to help make this happen.

At least 1 person is dead and 10 others were shot last night in the historic Sweet Auburn neighborhood in Atlanta. We shouldn’t have to live like this. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, and the entire community reeling from yet another tragedy.

🙌🏾 Big news: $55 MILLION for Community Violence Intervention just made it into the Senate’s FY26 CJS bill — with bipartisan support. 🙌🏾 This is a major win for the communities doing the hard work to stop gun violence before it starts. Let’s keep the pressure on!
Eric Garner was a father, a husband, and a neighbor. 11 years ago, NYPD officers killed him after suspecting him of a petty offense. He was unarmed. He wasn’t a threat. His murder changed the conversation on police violence, and reminds us that accountability is still overdue.

“Get in good trouble, necessary trouble...” – John Lewis 🕊️ Join @CJActionFund in Austin, TX for Good Trouble Lives On, a national peaceful protest on July 17. We’re proud that our National Organizing Manager Christina Delgado will be speaking! 🗣️✊🏽 📍 Pan Am Park 🕕 6–8:30PM

10 years ago, Sandra Bland was arrested after a traffic stop in TX. 3 days later, she was found dead in her jail cell. She should still be here. Her life mattered. We remember her name. And we continue the fight for a world that values and protects Black women.

3 people were killed & 9 others were injured in a mass shooting in Philadelphia. This tragedy comes amid a violent July 4th weekend that left 6 people dead citywide. We don’t need more patrols. We need prevention.

Another violent holiday weekend across the U.S. The federal government is pulling resources that could prevent the next one: ❌CVI grants = gone ❌Medicaid = slashed ❌Gun safety protections = gutted Disinvestment has consequences & our communities pay the price.

One year ago, Sonya Massey called 911 for help during a mental health crisis. She was shot and killed by a sheriff’s deputy in her own home. Sonya should still be here. We remember her and demand care, not force, in moments of crisis.

Nine years ago, Alton Sterling was killed by police outside a convenience store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A father, a brother, a friend — Alton was a man who deserved to live. Today, we remember him and all the Black lives stolen by police violence.

Congress passed a tax bill that guts nearly $1T from Medicaid, and it’s heading to Trump’s desk. This will devastate care for millions, including funding for CVI programs that prevent gun violence & support survivors. We need care, healing, and community investment.

4 people were killed and 14 more wounded in a drive-by mass shooting in Chicago last night, now considered worst mass shooting downtown since 2022. Our communities deserve more than reactive outrage. They deserve safety, healing, and care — every day.

The Senate narrowly passed the Trump-backed “One Big Beautiful Bill,” slashing nearly $1T from Medicaid that puts millions at risk. We condemn this bill, and we urge the House to reject this harmful legislation and protect funding for CVI programs that actually keep us safe.

This week, our Deputy Director of Legislative Advocacy, Tarria Stanley, joined @RepGlennIvey on IG Live to break down how CVI programs are being gutted, from CVIPI funding to the closure of the WHOGVP. The fight to #ProtectCVI is just beginning.
This Friday, we’re standing with our partners for UNITY in Our CommUNITY, a day of action to end gun violence through connection. Our National Youth Organizing Manager, Brent Bailey, will be speaking on a panel alongside local & national leaders. 🗓️ June 27 | 📍 ATL | ⏰ 9–3:30

BREAKING: The Break the Cycle of Violence Act is here. Led by @RepHorsford + @SenBooker, this bill would invest $5B in CVI + $1.5B in youth workforce development — the largest federal investment in community-led safety to date. We proudly support it.🧡

3 years ago, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act became law — the most significant gun safety legislation in over 30 years, allocating $15B in funding for CVI programs. We’re proud to have helped push it over the finish line. Let’s protect CVI funding and keep building. 🧡

$2M for CVI in Texas. A MAJOR win. Thanks to strong advocacy, coalition work, and leadership from groups like ATX Peace, the State Legislature has allocated $2M to support CVI programs across the state. Let’s keep funding real solutions. 🧡 #txlege

Juneteenth is a reminder that justice has always been delayed for Black communities, & that freedom has always been fought for, not freely given. Today, we honor our ancestors & celebrate resilience. We recommit to the work of liberation — not just in memory, but in action.

Powerful panel discussion yesterday with @RepLucyMcBath, featuring our National Youth Organizing Manager, Brent, on the state of gun violence prevention, the toll on healthcare, and how we keep pushing forward — even with funding cuts & political setbacks.
