It's great seeing José “Spicy” Quijada regaining his confidence. He hasn’t allowed a run in 9 appearances since June 27. He’s gone 2–0 with 12 strikeouts, 3 walks, and is holding opponents to a .194 average over 9.0 scoreless innings.

Denzer Guzman has taken a giant step forward in July, and you can see his run-producing potential (especially if his future is at 3B). He leads the Southern League in OPS in July at 1.144 and is hitting .339 with 8 doubles and 14 RBIs and ranks top 5 in several league categories…
According to the box score, tonight's Trash Pandas game in Biloxi took 78 days. It did have 17 walks, 27 runners left on base, 24 strikeouts, and a 10-minute delay.

Ian Mejia's continued presence in Double-A is remarkable to me. He's 9-1 with a 1.89 ERA this year. The final year in Mississippi was brutal in many ways, but the no-hitter he tossed on May 17 was a moment that the team could enjoy.

Rod Barajas Jr., son of Trash Pandas bench coach Rod Barajas, was drafted by the San Francisco Giants today in the 11th round (326th overall). He plays catcher and was drafted out of Saddleback College. He has been hanging out with his dad a lot here recently.
