@CBWGCAUCUS
Working to lift Black women and girls in policy discussions in Congress and on the national stage. Co-chairs @RepBonnie @RepYvetteClarke and @RepRobinKelly
Building an economy for all means supporting marginalized communities. Black people — especially Black women — face nearly insurmountable barriers to achieving the American Dream. The "Black Women Best" framework proposes that we smash those barriers. watsoncoleman.house.gov/cbwgcaucus/new…
Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls Statement on Black Women's Equal Pay Day:

Carla Hayden is a consummate professional and public servant. Her dismissal is part of the Trump administration's pattern of retribution against anyone who doesn't 100% toe the line of his extreme agenda. Eliminating dissenting voices is a sign of a weak leader.
NEW: President Trump abruptly fired the Librarian of Congress tonight, days after she was targeted by a conservative group that accused her of being "woke." Hayden was the first woman and African American to occupy the role. w/ @KyleAlexStewart nbcnews.com/politics/trump…
Discrimination against Black hair is discrimination against Black people. Our co-chair @RepBonnie introduced the #CROWNAct on Wednesday, which would create important protections against racial hair discrimination. We strongly urge the House to pass it.

Congratulations to @dawnstaley and the whole @GamecockWBB team on an incredible undefeated season!

Jessica Pettway should still be with us. She was misdiagnosed MULTIPLE times before her cancer was detected. Black women are 41% more likely to develop cervical cancer and 75% more likely to die from it. We must ensure doctors LISTEN TO BLACK WOMEN when we say something's wrong.

My mother wasn’t a prop. She was a peace advocate before she met my father and was instrumental in him speaking out against the Vietnam War. Please understand…my mama was a force. Here’s what I wrote about her a few years ago: huffpost.com/entry/coretta-… #CorettaScottKing

Menopause affects every woman, but it rarely is part of our national conversation. It was great to talk with @halleberry who is an incredible advocate for this issue.
This #FibroidsAwarenessMonth, know that millions of women still suffer from this painful disease — and a vastly disparate number of us are Black. Today, I led the introduction of the Uterine Fibroid Research and Education Act to redefine our fight against fibroids.
As maternal deaths in our nation continue to rise and thousands more face life-threatening complications, we have a moral responsibility to provide Moms the care they and their babies need most. I’m proud to fight for the CARE For Moms Act to protect moms’ futures in America.
It’s long past time to challenge societal norms and stereotypes that perpetuate discrimination against Black women and girls based on their hair. Every single individual deserves to feel confident and proud of their natural hair. fox5ny.com/news/natural-h…

This proves why it is crucial for society to actively challenge and dismantle harmful beauty standards. By promoting inclusivity and acceptance of all hair types, we create an environment where Black girls feel empowered to embrace their natural hair without judgment.

Breast cancer mortality rates are higher among Black women due to a lack of access to healthcare and screening tests. We must address these disparities and work towards better outcomes for all to ensure that no one is left behind in the fight against this devastating disease.
As breast cancer deaths decline in America, racial disparities persist in the mortality rates between Black and white women. trib.al/8Lmv42j
Happy Birthday, Vice President @KamalaHarris💜 The Caucus on Black Women and Girls is inspired by your achievements and the glass ceilings you have shattered. Thank you for being a role model and paving the way for future generations to come.

The pursuit of Eurocentric beauty standards has led many Black women to rely on chemical relaxers. We're now seeing a possible association between relaxer use and an increased risk of uterine fibroids in Black women. forbes.com/sites/ariannaj…
