Its an obvious one at this point but trade Chinakhov for a fwd capable of playing 2/3 line minutes. #CBJ
With roughly two months left until training camp, what is one reasonable change that you would make to the #CBJ roster (don’t just say trade for McDavid 😆) before the start of the season?
Some of the first names that come to me : Rick Nash (obviously) Manny Malhotra Derrick Brassard #CBJ
The @BlueJacketsNHL are celebrating 25 years in Ohio! #CBJ
3, maybe 4 teams got noticeably better this offseason and none in the Metro. As such, I expect CBJ to be firmly in the playoff discussion granted continued progression, better injury luck and even a tiny bit better goaltending. #cbj
What NHL opinion will have you like this
Lines up with my earlier thoughts, Yegor is going to have a great opportunity to be in the top 6 so again lets start the season and see how things go. Best case he solidifies a spot and this fades away. Worst case injuries/inconsistencies continue and a trade is made. #CBJ
Chinakhov's Agent tells me that Yegor "didn't ask for anything officially. He just shared his thoughts and emotions." What happens from here is anyone's guess. #CBJ
Lets put some puzzle pieces together. Who's openly looking for young NHL level players who want out/dont quite fit their current team? Pittsburgh. Whos looking for veteran top 6 fwds to bolster their top 6 and surround their young stars? CBJ Just something to think abt. #CBJ
Realistically, best move for everyone is Chinakhov starts the year with CBJ and plays well and shows he can stay healthy. At that point, maybe 20 games in or so, DW and Chinakhovs reps reevaluate and find a trade that makes sense for everyone. #CBJ
Aaron Portzline reports the CBJ front office is aware of the request and has had trade talks, but they aren’t simply going to accept the best offer. Don Waddell will only move him if an acceptable offer is presented. Otherwise, the expectation is that he will be at training camp.
This is an interesting development. Chinakhov is a fascinating player who if developed right and more importantly stay healthy could easily be a high end depth scorer. This should force DW towards replacing him, possibly by packaging him with other assets for an upgrade. #CBJ
I agree that at some point Sillinger could be available but CBJ wants to contend so while Sillinger has definitely slid down the depth chart he still has real value. CBJ in my mind are only trading him in a package for a clear upgrade, not dumping him as a reclamation. #CBJ
Underrated player the Canucks could target is Cole Sillinger Jackets have too many centres Coming off his best statistical season and he’s only freshly 22 In an increased role he has breakout potential
Mid July Poll: As currently constructed, what do you think CBJ are this upcoming season? Comment your logic below if you'd like! Also if you have **REALISTIC** (translation: not a pipe dream) changes that/should be made, I'd interested to hear them as well. #CBJ
Something to keep an eye on in my mind re the roster: As currently constructed, the team is exactly one Chinakhov or Jenner injury away from being dangerously low on any sort of reliable depth scoring. G and D are definitely a priority but a quality fwd is a need as well. #CBJ
Not really sure why people are so upset by this. This will walk him straight to the NHL and pretty much on time for when young goalies tend to be ready at the NHL lvl. Pretty much a non issue in my eyes. #cbj
The correct way to look at this: goalies typically take 3-5 years to become NHL ready. Even the very best prospects. This is free development for the Blue Jackets until Pyotr is ready to make the jump. #CBJ
CBJ linked to a few players here but the big add for CBJ fans is Voronkov who, as many have suspected, could continue to be part of conversations for an upgrade for a top 6 winger. #cbj
Summer Trade Watch List thefourthperiod.com/summer-trade-w…
Can tell you now CBJ would be extremely interested if Robertson hit the trade market. #CBJ
Jeff Marek: I don't think Dallas Stars are going to let the Jason Robertson question linger deep into the summer; they're going to find out pretty quick what number he's looking at; I think Dallas will have an idea in pretty early July; I see Ducks as a destination - DFO Rundown
The fit isnt quite there but if DW is comfortable with some combination of Sillinger/Jenner/Coyle/Lundestrom playing wing, I could see how CBJ would try to get this conversation. #CBJ
David Pagnotta: I'm curious as to Mason McTavish's future...or at least stance in Anaheim; you started to hear a little bit of noise he wasn't overly thrilled with the fact his role might diminish, so maybe that leads to some trade discussions - Leafs Morning Take
If its a free agent, dont see many options aside from maybe Appleton. If its a trade, who the heck knows lol. #CBJ
President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Don Waddell says a top player is "probably not" coming in free agency — but then said this: "I have a center that I'm working to get. He's going to fit into our group very well." #CBJ
Given how FA has played out I do think that teams looking to make big upgrades are going to have to focus on doing it in season/pre draft. The cap rising gives teams too much ability to hang onto guys. Until contracts adjust up to the current cap, expect more of the same. #CBJ
Shopping list for FA/Trades for the rest of the summer Need: 1 depth D 3/4 goalie to pair with Sawchenko Depth fwd unless Danforth gets signed Would like: Top 6 fwd #CBJ
This is exactly why CBJ has not been able to do what they originally wanted to this offseason. Everyone has the cap space to spend and also hold onto assets. As I've been saying, Provorov on a long term deal is far from ideal but is much better than any obvious alternative. #CBJ
Good day for players looking to get overpaid in a weaker UFA market. Per @PuckPedia some of the space teams are working with as of right now.
Would like to see this happen. #CBJ
#CBJ are still trying to get Justin Danforth signed before free agency opens at noon, according to Aaron Portzline.
So after missing out on Dobson/Andersson/etc, DW had 2 options 1) Don't bring back Prov, D almost certainly gets worse bc arguably no obviously better options out there 2) Bring him back and at least the D stays the same It's not ideal but idk how you don't pick option 2 #cbj
