July 24, 1921 Richmond Times compares the two stars of “The Saphead,” William H Crane, who came out of retirement as “the oldest star in point of service in the theatrical world in America,” and Buster, “the newest actor to be elevated to stellar prominence in the screen world.”

July 23, 1926 Buster Keaton directed the Texas engine crashing into the Row River. The scene was shot in one take on Friday afternoon at 3pm, with six cameras as well as a crowd of 3,000-4,000 spectators. It was the single most expensive 14 seconds of silent film ever shot.

July 22, 1932 The Norfolk Daily reports that while Buster Keaton was away boating, his dog, Elmer, wandered off and "became notorious in a fight with a Culver City canine and landed in jail, the town having no pound. Elmer ate at the rate of three dollars' worth of meat a day."

July 19, 1935 Leah Sewell, accused by Mae Scriven of an affair with her husband, Buster Keaton, after the latter found the former in bed with him, “It was all just a gag. Just kidding (he) made a running jump and landed on my bed by me just as his wife walked in. I was asleep.”
