CA State Assemblymember from the East Bay, Chair of the Appropriations Committee, Alum of @ObamaWhiteHouse, mom of 2 fierce little girls, wife of @PeterMAmbler
Today Jojo and Elly joined me in Sacramento as I was sworn in for my third term in the State Assembly. It’s such an honor to continue this work on behalf of the people of the East Bay — now as the member representing #AD14! Let’s get back to it! #caleg

So damn true - every government official should listen to Buffy. It’s not the bill signing or the appropriation or the grant…. Instead this is the main question: Did the government action solve a problem and positively affect people and their communities?
I’m excited AB 130 got signed into law. But what I’m more looking forward to is its efficacy. I’m done with bill signing ceremonies. I want groundbreakings and ribbon cuttings. Because that’s the measure that matters: are we solving problems?

We sure did! 💪 Now let’s build some housing!! ❤️🏠
Last week, California passed a landmark law exempting many infill housing developments from CEQA. Here’s how we can do the same thing on a national level, exempting urban infill housing from NEPA.
I can't believe that this takes effect *immediately.* What a baller move. We no longer live in a world where CEQA can block critically needed housing in California's cities.

Here’s why the new CEQA exemption for infill housing is such a big deal:
It’s 12:01 am. New CEQA is in effect!
I just enacted the most game-changing housing reforms in recent California history. We're urgently embracing an abundance agenda by tearing down the barriers that have delayed new affordable housing and infrastructure for decades. Let’s get building, California.
I honestly can barely believe this happened. Total YIMBY victory in California today. After Newsom signs this bill; CEQA will no longer apply to *any* infill housing under 85’. No inclusionary zoning or labor provisions.
CEQA reform means "saying 'no housing in my community' is no longer state sanctioned,"" said Asm. @BuffyWicks. @SFBusinessTimes breaks down what last night's "historic breakthrough" will change on the ground in San Francisco: bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/n…

Some of your loyal housing Assemblymembers reporting for duty - awaiting Senate Housing Committee!

Hard to see me in this photo, but I’m proud to be part of it — standing with @seiucalifornia after presenting AB 1340, legislation that would give hundreds of thousands of rideshare drivers in California the right to unionize. Passed Senate Labor this morning 4-1!

From Wilma Chan Park and the streets of Oakland to peaceful protests nationwide, our message is clear: power belongs to the people. We reject authoritarianism — because in this country, there are no kings.

My statement on the outrageous action taken against @SenAlexPadilla 👇

“Crashed” the press conference? He’s a sitting US Senator representing millions of constituents in the nation’s most populous state. He has every right to question a Cabinet member.
BREAKING: California Democratic Senator @AlexPadilla4CA just crashed DHS Secretary Noem’s press conference in LA and was forcibly removed.

Check out this important father & son op-ed endorsing @BuffyWicks's AB 609 -- a bill that would conclusively remove infill housing development from CEQA. The father is Nick Yost, who led Cal DOJ in 1970s, wrote the brief that became Friends of Mammoth, and later... 1/3
