Ryanne was shot in the head for doing her job as a journalist. When gov targets the press, it’s not just an attack on reporters—it’s a violation of the First Amendment and the public’s right to know. We’re proud to join @ACLU_SoCal & @LAPressClub to demand accountability.
Last night’s Protect Local Journalism event at the Buffalo History Museum was postponed after cartoonist Adam Zyglis and his family received violent threats. We stand with Adam and with every journalist facing intimidation for doing their job.
Please see our statement about tonight's event at the Buffalo History Museum. Full statement also here: buffaloguild.org/wp-content/upl…

Happy Pride! We had a blast at today’s Buffalo Pride Parade.

See everyone Sunday at the Buffalo Pride Parade!

Every year, our members help with @BNWaterkeeper's spring waterfront cleanup. On Saturday morning, we volunteered along Scajaquada Creek in Black Rock. The Guild has participated in the cleanup for many years and we do so in memory of the late Guild leader John “Jay” Bonfatti.

.@TheBuffaloNews had five newsroom retirements and an equal number of unfilled positions abolished thanks to @LeeEntNews' last round of cuts. We appreciate in-person efforts by the company to hear our concerns. But as the statement indicates, actions speak louder than words.
Last month, Lee Enterprises made its third round of cuts in two years to its news organizations. That's not just a blow to local journalism and the communities we cover. It's a sign of much bigger problems. Our statement on what @LeeEntNews' actions reveal about the company:

Harold, Barb, Mike, Mark and Scott all voluntarily resigned in lieu of layoffs. They resigned with severance to save the jobs of five younger journalists who were lower in seniority. The Guild recognizes their long, distinguished careers and also their compassion for colleagues.
Last week, our newsroom and union sadly said goodbye to four veteran journalists who have worked at @TheBuffaloNews for 120 years and in journalism for 150+ years. From L, @HaroldMcNeilBN, @bobrieneden, @mikemcandrew1 (not leaving yet) & @msommerbn. Not pictured: @ScottBScanlon
