Revisiting this old friend today. GREAT HISTORY OF COMIC BOOKS 1890s-1980s By Ron Goulart. A whopping 314 pgs. Published 1986. Got this book when I was maybe 13? 14? yrs old & was shocked by the violence & sexiness in early comics. Here began my fascination with “the old stuff”!

I find it hilarious (and sad) that modern Marvel stubbornly adheres to their “Hellfire Gala” version of X-Men as the “real” canon storyline - while treating “Elsewhen”, written & drawn by John Byrne, a man who helped define the X-Men in the first place, as a work of fan-fiction.
The print publication of John Byrne’s “X-Men: Elsewhen” comic series and the new line of 1978 Battlestar Galactica figures (in 3.75” and 12” scale) are the most exciting announcements (so far) to come out of SDCC 2025 if you ask me!
