She's called the Griot now. That's significant in African/African American Culture. She's a Hero in her own right. Been that way since before either movie came out so this whole thing "because she's a woman?" That's not it.

Replacing the top melanated hero in the history of comics doesn't get a pass. It is racially regressive to prolonge his absence. The problem isn't who the substitute is the problem is he's being substituted.
