. @brianthart: One of Iran’s key limitations is economic: trade with China pales compared to China’s trade with Gulf states like Saudi Arabia. Sanctions have kept Chinese investments in Iran tepid. So Beijing must weigh economic benefits carefully—including ties with Israel.
