@BostonBacteria
We’re a bacteriology-focused research conference organized by trainees, for trainees. The 31st annual BBM2025 will be June 9th-10th at Harvard Science Center!
Following up our Cell Reports paper, an avirulent C. difficle clinical isolate out-competes virulent strains in mice via quickly depleting multiple amino acids, and protects mice from developing colitis!

Officially published! I’m happy to share my first-author paper out @mbiojournal journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/mb…
Excited to share our recent pre-print! The Vibrio cholerae encoded Nezha anti-phage system (SIR2-HerA) restricts virulent vibriophages ICP1, ICP2, and ICP3 by depleting NAD+ (Abi💀). However, an ICP1 isolate can overcome this by encoding putative NAD+ regenerating proteins! ⚡️
Oops! I guess BBM was too high energy this year and caused a power outage ⚡🔦 I had an unforgettable poster session in the dark 🕶️! +slightly improv'd breakout sessions Thankfully BBM re-nucleated iykyk 🧬🤭 to hear two great sessions & the super keynote by @joeBondyDenomy!
Kicking off BBM! Boston bacteria meeting 30th year anniversary at the GSU at Boston Univ. Campus Wouldn't be possible without our amazing co-chairs - Molly and Laurent, the organizing committee, and sponsors :-)

Who's excited for BBM next week? 😎😉 I'm picking up my poster today! Forecast is 76F ☀️🌅 since all you bacteriologists seem to be bringing the heat 🌶️🔥🌶️🥵 Looking forward to the talks and chatting about genetics🧬 and scary pathogens🙀🦠 w the best community out there!
