first DVD was the video for Blur's NO DISTANCE LEFT TO RUN (1999), because the director was Thomas Vinterberg and I was so impressed by FESTEN. I didn't have a DVD player at the time, so also needed to buy one in order to watch it. (still never bought anything on Blu-ray.)
