Welcome back for Hilary term! 🎉 The first new books display is out, and we're excited to see the library getting busier already!

"Around the World in 80 Clays" is our newest table display on the ground floor! It is a celebration of ceramics, both ancient and modern, from across the globe, with contributions from all of the Art Library's collections.

Highlights of this week's new book display include Yōkai, New York City, and the Urartian Empire!

In case you missed it: youtube.com/shorts/JmRK4bj…. Our 1,800 year old Papyrus written by a Mother-in-Law to her Son-in-Law on the eve of her daughter giving birth.
While the sun is making a rare appearance here in Oxford, it's important to remember to look after yourself by staying hydrated! You can find our water fountain in the lobby to top up your bottles (but please don't take unsealed cups of water into the main library!)

🚧Service Update🚧 SOLO will be unavailable for around 24 hours this weekend starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday 12th July. For more information, click the link below! bodleian.ox.ac.uk/service-updates

Just so you know, our opening hours don't change over the vacation! The Art Library is open 9am-9pm every weekday (10am-6pm on Saturdays, 11am-7pm on Sundays) for you to sit and study, or just read and relax!

If you're looking for an excuse to escape the heatwave... why not pop round and take a look at our new book display?

We heard there's some commotion happening in Glastonbury this weekend... Can only assume everyone's headed on down to the fascinating archaeological site of Glastonbury Lake Village, about which we recently found a series of early 1900s pamphlets in our collection!

While the Romans pumped cold water from aqueducts through the walls of their houses to keep them cool, all that excess moisture isn't great for books. Luckily for us, the Art Library has a nice modern air conditioning system. Pop in and get out of the heatwave this weekend!

Invisible East are one of the contributor's to our new Exhibition, Treasured. Learn more about their important work protecting and promoting #manuscript #heritage in #Afghanistan on 1 July. visit.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/event/jul25/in…

It's that time of year again 😢 We're sad to see you go, but before you leave us, take a look at our leavers' checklist to see if there's anything you still need to do!

The Bodleian Libraries need you! This is your chance to submit your Zine to form part of our Wellbeing Collection. Whether you're a student, staff member, or part of the wider community: you can help us expand and diversify our collection. More: forms.office.com/Pages/Response…
Ancient perfumes? Lesbian landscapes? Hackney Flashers? Find them all right now on our new books display!

It's Pride Month, and no self-respecting Classics library should let it pass without a nod to the original Lesbian: Sappho! We've gathered a small selection of our many sources about her life and poetry, and you can check it out on the second floor.

It's the little things that make our day!
What a lovely story from @OxfordClarion about @bodleianlibs Weston Library. Nice!
Tom Phillips described Song of Myself as “an attempt to list the various identities that go to make a single artistic life”. Read more here: visit.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/event/song-of-… This incredible wire sculpture can currently be seen on display in Blackwell Hall at the Weston Library.
This week's additions to the new books display: sculpture, biography, and Vikings!

They tried to tell us to "leave the Sheldonian" because it's "not September yet" but we're simply too sat!
I was (and am!) beyond touched by her sweetness, and also her excellent anecdote about the creative disruption caused by a mouse 🐭 Oxford and surrounding area, please join me for your NFTTH tour stop on September 16th! ticketsoxford.com/events/natalie…
