Great to see #swifts have started using the #swiftnestboxes put up by @BirdWatchIE on behalf @louthcoco last year. Four pairs using the tower of which at least two are in the boxes at Tallanstown NS County Louth @Swiftconserv @Tallanstown @louthbiod
Thanks to everyone who made it out to our walk in Trim at the weekend. Loman Steet again the main focus of the walk where most of Trims Swift live.


It's that time of year again, flying ant SEASON. And no, there is not actually a flying ant day. The flight of the Queen ants depends on local weather conditions. While they can cause problems flying into folks' hair and coffees, they do not sting! Here's the story... 🐜🐜🐜

#Breedingwaders live in #wetlands and are in danger from dogs. Keep your dog on a lead and away from these protected birds, even if you cannot see their nest. These crucial habitats need your protection. @BreedingWaders @AcresIreland

My fledglings have fledged. & then I saw an adult w/more nesting material. Going againt? My colleague Niall Hatch told me that yes Swallows will churn out chicks so a quick turnaround & they will work on clutch 2. & 1st brood chicks are known to help w/feeding later broods!
The Swallow chicks in my shed are beginning to fledge. I saw 3 today. Maybe the 4th is still in the nest or maybe not. Delighted! Very dedicated parents were absolutely on any magpie or cat that came in the vicinity of the shed. And me... I was a shooer of threats!

There was a low "Tern" out for today's event. But Franck and Terry enjoyed watching the Little Terns of Baltray Beach where up to 125 nests have already been established. @NatureNymph @BirdWatchIE @LouthBW
