I was one of those gifted kids, and I second this. Public schools are a dangerous toxin; for the gifted they can be life destroying. My high school years (starting at age 11) were a living Hell.

The central insight of the Objectivist ethics is that rationality--identification of *what is*--is essential to ethics, and thus that irrationality is necessarily immoral. The rest of the Objectivist ethics flows from that and other general propositions about human beings.
"Health" for humans is a species characteristic, to be discovered through observation and reason. Any moral system that does not put the individual's health above all else is a moral system that demands that you degrade your health for the benefit of someone or something else.

If you haven't figured it out yet, America is no longer a constitutional republic, and its government is no longer bound by law. There is no longer a moral reason to defer to it, never mind to defend or obey it.
