Profound sadness to learn the passing of Summit Chief Tom Murray (Ret.). Chief Murray served as Union County Fire Mutual Aid Coordinator & representative at the NJ Firemen’s Home. Our thoughts are with his family, friends & members of Summit Fire Dept during this difficult time.


Join us in congratulating FF J. Siksnius, D. Skelly & others of class #25-01 on completing Basic Firefighter Training. Recruits trained all firefighting aspects, including suppression, hazardous materials, confined space rescue awareness, extrication & engine & ladder operations.




Happy Father’s Day to all incredible Dads out there! Special recognition to all Dads on the BHFD! Thank you for devoting your time to our department & our community! Also shout out to the Dads who have nurtured, inspired, & supported their children into joining the Department.

Congratulations to Firefighter Dan Grossano for completing the Firefighter-2 program at the Middlesex County Fire Academy. This 90-hour course is the second level of standard-based certification available to firefighters, following the training provided in Firefighter I.

🇺🇸 Happy Flag Day! Today, commemorates the adoption of the official flag of the United States by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.

This past Wednesday, BHFD responded to seven fires and emergencies. Calls included gas leaks, fire alarms, motorist who suffered burns and ended with a mutual aid request from Watchung Fire Department for a truck on fire that was loaded with pallets of Butane lighters.




Yesterday, BHFD was dispatched to The Grove at Connell Park to assist in rescuing a young Northern Mockingbird that fell into a storm drain. Thanks to the quick & compassionate efforts of the crew, the fledgling was safely recovered & is now in the care of The Raptor Trust.


This past Wednesday, members of the Berkeley Heights Fire Department conducted an acquired structure drill on a home slated for demolition on Kuntz Avenue. We extend our sincere thanks to Hamlett Development Partners for donating the structure and supporting this training.




With profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Dalrymple, a world-renowned expert in vehicle extrication. Dave played a pivotal role in training many BHFD Firefighters in patient-centered extrication. His knowledge, commitment & compassion will never be forgotten.

National Police Week honors the hard working men and women who serve their communities as Law Enforcement and the sacrifices they make to serve. BHFD members would like to thank all Police Officers, especially our town’s own at the @BHPOLICE who work with us daily.

🚒 Earlier today BHFD visited Mary Kay McMillin Early Childhood Center for their annual Community Day for first graders. The students got to meet some of the dedicated individuals who protect and serve the Berkeley Heights community.

🔥 Elevated Risk for the Spread of Wildfires - Tuesday April 29th. 👉 The US National Weather Service New York NY has issued a Special Weather Statement for the elevated risk for the spread of wildfires.

🚒 Friday night BHFD Squad-2 was invited to attend the April meeting for Berkeley Heights Cub Scout Pack 268. Fire safety outreach is one of the main ways we’ve been able to keep down the number of lives lost to fire & help reduce the number of serious fires we have as well.



This morning, BHFD responded to a reported fuel spill involving a truck on Diamond Hill Road. Upon arrival, Squad 2 found ~ 5 gallons of diesel fuel leaked on roadway. The leak was plugged & speedy dry applied. These actions prevented any contamination of the storm sewer system.


This week’s theme is “Get Out Stay Out.” The safest option for anyone inside a building that is on fire is to get out immediately and call 9-1-1. It is also very important to stay out once you get out. #GetOutStayOut #FireSafetyTips #BeSafe
Yesterday Tower-1 responded to Bound Brook as part of a task force from Union County that included an engine from Plainfield and Scotch Plains. Bound Brook with assistance from neighboring towns were battling a 3 alarm fire.

Monday, Feb 24, 2025. Engine-3, 1, & 4 responded to 911 calls reporting a brush fire on 78 East @ Exit 43. Fire was quickly suppressed & overhauled. BHFD responded to 5 other incidents on Monday, including air fryer fire and a 3 car MVA on Glenside Ave with possible entrapment.
