The corollary is that writing should be about things you want to genuinely think through -- not just things you want to have written about. The latter, unfortunately, is the vast majority of writing -- assignments, papers for publication, thought leadership pieces, etc.

Kind of an aside, but the way we fund research makes executing epic pivots like this completely impossible. (Outside of maybe some bizarre corner cases.)
