Despite earlier reports, Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba did not travel to Austin for MLS All-Star Week and won’t play in tonight’s MLS vs. Liga MX All-Star Game. Should the rules be enforced, both would be suspended for a critical matchup vs FC Cincinnati.
CF Montreal’s CEO and ownership sends a letter to supporters addressing the poor play and committing to a rebuild. But they’ve sent it out at 5:00am ET — not exactly a way for many to see it quickly. Montreal have just three wins in 24 MLS games this season.

The NSL announces that the league’s inaugural final will be played at BMO Field in Toronto as a neutral site on November 15. No doubt going to be a cold one. For fan purposes, you’d also hope that AFC Toronto qualify as well. Always risks and rewards with neutral venues.

A massive upset in a wild night of MLS as Toronto FC beat the Western Conference-leading San Diego FC. A few close calls, but Theo Corbeanu’s penalty kick stands as a 1-0 winner. That’s also a big help to Vancouver’s hopes of top spot.
