📈📻 It’s another high! After record-breaking figures last time around, absolutely thrilled to have added a further 33,000 listeners in the last quarter and a total of 111,000 more listeners (⬆️29%) in the last year. Thank you to everyone who joins us each night and a huge thanks…

The gall of the co-chair of the BMA resident doctors committee warning about hospital’s “very concerning’ plans to try and avoid cancelling thousands of planned operations because of, er, the BMA’s five-day strike

'They're taking us for a ride.' @BenKentish calls for water bosses to be 'locked up' as serious pollution incidents in the UK rise by 60%.
Ella was brilliant but this was one of the most distrusting calls I’ve taken in a long time
'We don't really play anymore... it makes me really sad.' 10-year-old Ella opens up to @BenKentish about how her school friend now has an AI boyfriend that she feels she 'can't compete' with...

‘He’s the President… He doesn’t have the power to release some files?’ Trump ally Carla Sands insists that Donald Trump can’t release Epstein’s client list. @BenKentish wants to know why.
During recent Conservative leadership contests, the Tories allowed members as young as 15 to vote to elect the next Prime Minister. But now they think 16- and 17-year olds are too young to choose their local MP? 🤔🤔🤔
“I once helped a group of otters lodge a formal complaint against Barnet Football Club for trying to build a stadium in their home town”
Wow what a mess @BarnetCouncil @BarryJohnRawlin. Last week you claimed you had suggested “three or four sites” to @BarnetFC as possible alternatives for a new stadium and were “waiting for a response”. Your planning committee voted on that basis on Monday - indeed it formed a…
My interview with the incredible @GabrielCyShemi, campaigning for justice for his twin sister Paloma, who he says was denied life-saving cancer treatment by their anti-vax mother. One of the most troubling stories I’ve heard in a long time: youtu.be/DNAjiZqV2yc?fe…
Its not even near houses. I live there. The council have destroyed the one thing we all did as youngsters together every other saturday. I was looking forward to taking my son. @BarnetCouncil you should be ashamed of yourselves. @BarnetFC is the best thing this borough had!
I walk that green every weekend in all seasons. It’s dead, nothings panes, dogs walkers and that’s all. It’s a joke that they won’t develop the land. Absolute joke. They had it dug up for 7 months and no one batted an eyelid
'It was one of the most pathetic things I've seen in years.' @BenKentish attended a Barnet Council meeting about a proposed new football stadium on greenbelt land. His verdict? 'Stop self-important NIMBYs vetoing everything this country needs.'
Talking about this absolute shambles @LBC in about an hour…
An interesting test tomorrow of the government’s efforts to get local councils to stop pandering to NIMBYism. Barnet Council is set to vote on @BarnetFC’s bid to return to its 140-year old home by building a new stadium and community facility on a low-quality piece on greenbelt…
Fascinating thread - Labour in Barnet displaying NIMBY credentials. They want to stop growth because they don’t like change.

Really is fascinating the hate some local politicians seem to have for their local football clubs, quite often one of the few genuinely positive assets associated with their area which puts them on the map nationally. Real shame for Barnet, hope they can appeal somehow.
Verdict: Barnet Labour councillors unite to reject the application. So almost £3m of investment, dozens of new jobs, a new health centre and a community sports facility are all rejected. The future of the 137-year-old football club is left precarious. Meanwhile Barnet Council…
Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable. A deprived area of Barnet just lost out on its football team coming home and bringing investment in the area. This dumb mentality needs to go from our town halls immediately.

Excellent 🧵 on the vagaries of our current planning system. Ultimately refused by Labour NIMBY Cllrs. We won’t move forward as a country and create growth and housing/infrastructure with this approach. We need a zonal planning system with areas of development presumption 👇
