It’s important to remember that pre-season games are for fitness and not to get carried away. Unrelated, but Brierley is the second coming of Xavi and will definitely win a Ballon d’Or within the next 5 years. #ECFC

I’m personally excited for the season - no-one’s kicked a ball yet and I’m not writing us off just because people think we’ll go down. We weren’t close to it last year and the same was said about us then, and the year before that. A smidge of positivity please! #ECFC

Very happy to have Whitworth back - obviously not without fault but if he was flawless we wouldn’t be able to sign him. Ultimately he’s a cracking young goalkeeper who enjoyed his time here and wants to return which is really positive #ECFC

Seem to be in the minority but I think this is quite a good move for him. He’ll likely be in the Championship with Luton within the next couple of years and has already shown his ability to develop at this level. Much better than a move to a PL U21s side imo. #ECFC

Sad to see Lee and Richards go - whilst understandable for different reasons, it feels like unsatisfying endings on both parts. Lee for potential never quite realised here, and Richards because we know what his potential is. Good luck to them both #ECFC

Very good business with Jay Bird, didn’t have it at our level but able to obtain a fee for him based off of a successful loan. Also means we will sign another striker who is potentially more useful #ECFC

GC saying that we’ll aim for a smaller squad this season, including academy players if at the standard, seems to tick boxes. Fans love seeing our own on the pitch, and will allow budget to be focused on filling key areas rather than stretched on a numbers basis. #ECFC

All the last day or so has shown is that rarely will any player love the club they play for as much as the fans do - and how could they? We pay to be there and to follow them our whole lives, of course it means more to us. #ECFC

A shame that we didn’t manage to keep hold of him. Possible to point to not offering a contract earlier as a reason but equally we’ve never overpaid to get a player to stay. He wants to cash in on his good performances and he is entitled to do so, just one of those things #ECFC

About three weeks ago, our CEO did an hour long interview explaining the club finances and how it could be run more efficiently/profitably. That to me seems to be pretty transparent. In order for progress, changes may be made and shouldn’t necessarily be immediately opposed #ECFC

Great to see Jake Richards would like to stay - there’s no doubt he’ll go onto bigger things but I feel, as many do, a gradual rise of League One to Championship etc would be much better for his development than a tempting move to a big club’s U21s where he could get lost #ECFC

Sure we got three points but losing the halftime mascot race shows a massive issue with the mentality of the club, sack everyone and rebuild over summer 😡 #ECFC

Very much a half where Crawley went for it to protect their L1 status whilst a number of individually poor performances have cost us. Fortunate that this is not an important game for us. #ECFC
