Behold, all true faithfull hearts, Gibbons brings you glad tidings. 🎙Festival of Chichester organiser Phil Hewitt talks to PBC MD Malcolm Keeler sussexexpress.co.uk/news/portsmout… It’s concert day. Last chance to buy a ticket ticketsource.co.uk/baroquechoir

Composers let themselves go in full anthems, & even printers sensed the fun setting “praises” in Gibbons’s ‘O clap you hands’, a GOAT banger. Let’s also clap Chichester’s bad boy, Weelkes, whose ‘Hosanna to the son of David’ guarantees a raised roof. 🎟️ ticketsource.co.uk/baroquechoir.

This Saturday's concert includes 2 Ascension anthems: Byrd 'Christ rising' & Gibbons 'We praise thee, O Father'. Gibbons may be missing a 3rd part: 2nd part doesn't end 'Amen'. But it does refer to the earlier anthem. Get a ticket & spot the connection: ticketsource.co.uk/baroquechoir

What do we know about John Bull’s life and what difference does it make to singing that perennial choral favourite, the Starre Anthem? Very little, argues Chris in his latest blog post, and probably just as well. Hear us sing it in Chichester July 5. 📖 portsmouthbaroquechoir.co.uk/background-not…

17th-century Ely comes to Chichester. Our #Gibbons400 concert July 5 includes Xmas anthem ‘O ye little flock’ by John Amner who followed Tye & Whyte at Ely Cathedral. Revered in Ely - a close has been named after him!

On the eve of #Gibbons400 (the anniversary, not our concert!) Chris listened to some choice Gibbons recordings and jotted down some thoughts about how to get the most out of his verse and full anthems in performance. portsmouthbaroquechoir.co.uk/news/gibbons-4…

A taster for the Binsted Viol consort pieces in our #gibbons400 concert on July 5. So good that @BBCRadio3 forgot to include it in their programme tracklist yesterday morning! youtu.be/iFMXwFMQp9Y?si…
