The "best kept secret" of the Cold War is what one historian called the @CIA's covert book-smuggling program behind the Iron Curtain. What a pleasure to review @CharlieEnglish1's terrific new nonfiction, THE CIA BOOK CLUB, for @washingtonpost. washingtonpost.com/books/2025/07/…

4yo insisted I cut him up precisely 8 strawberries when we got home. Okay, tiny tyrant.
I had the honour of interviewing @gregmosse today. As well as being an incredibly talented author who has written nine books in five years, he’s also a lovely person and huge champion of other writers. It was a brilliant interview which will be up soon. The Coming Fire is out now

Major Harrogate FOMO. It’s not a whine, only an observation, but you miss out on so much when you’re a writer with caring responsibilities. I hope it doesn’t affect my career. #harrogate #WritingCommunity

Photographic memory is a myth. But some people have HSAM, they recall life events with insane detail. Others, like savants, have rare memory "superpowers". Mnemonists/memory athletes (myself included) use techniques (like memory palaces) to recall massive amounts of info.
I wonder if a photographic memory is something people are born with or if it develops over time.
