We hope that our children, families and staff have a wonderful summer break! The children will return back to school on Wednesday 3rd September.

Today will be the last day of our 2024-2025 school year at 3:10pm! What an amazing and fun year it has been!! School will re-open to everyone 3rd September 8:40am!

Year 5 and 6 are ready for their end of year performance of Disney's Aladdin. Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th July at 5pm. (Doors open 4.45pm) Tickets £1 each. Some still available for both performances so get yours whilst stocks last. Don't miss this year spectacular! @BVCSchool

This morning, Year 3 travelled up to Winterhill School to take part in Rotherham Music’s Big String performance! They enjoyed hearing performances from other schools and played their ukuleles magnificently. We are so proud of how well they represented #teamBVCS!

In Science this week we've been working scientifically and considering the properties of everyday materials. We have been performing simple experiments on materials to see if they are waterproof or not. We made predictions and then recorded our results. We had lots of fun!

Our school Broom Valley Community School -enjoyed been part of the Rotherham Baton Relay last week. We were told we were THE best reception and applause of all 86 schools! Go team BVCS! @ccoc_roth2025 @BVCSchool

This week our F1 children have been reading Missing Richmond by Patrick Corrigan. The children noticed the lighthouse had a red and white repeating pattern. Our children worked very hard creating their own repeating patterns in a variety of ways. We are so very impressed!


Year 3 had an amazing day at the National Coal Museum! They went underground to see what life was like for miners and heard some amazing stories from the fantastic mine guides. They explored the colliery buildings to see how mining worked. The pit ponies were a favourite!




Year 5 had a Norse visitor from Portals to the Past. Bjorn taught us the Viking story. Here is one of our students learning why spears were effective battle weapons for the Vikings! @BVCSchool

Later on today, Miss Berry, Mrs Lillie and 4 of our year 6 children will be taking part in Rotherham's Baton Relay, running from BVCS to Herringthorpe Juniors. What a fabulous event for our wonderful town. #collarboration

Y3 arrived at The National Coal Mining Museum for England excited and ready to explore. Two groups have already gone straight underground and the others are exploring the museum! So much to see, do and learn! #curiosity

Children in F2 have been reading 'Can't you sleep, Little Bear? By Martin Waddell and have been painting and decorating their own bears. Some children have been building a bed for little bear to sleep in! @WalkerBooksUK @BVCSchool




Y4 have arrived at Clifton Park Museum for our Roman Lives workshop. We are looking forward to meeting the Roman Soldier and checking out some of the artefacts from Roman Britain. @CliftonParkMus #History #TeamBVCS

The children in arts and crafts after school club have enjoyed creating pictures using real flowers. They were very creative as they designed their vases.
