⁦@OrioleTweets⁩ food service employees getting the new year kicked off. These folks serve about 1.8 million meals each year - all making sure our kids are well nourished & ready to learn!

Welcoming 1,000+ ⁦@OrioleTweets⁩ employees for start of the year! My guest emcee Alek was awesome, plus featured so many students - robotics, speech, choir, cheer, band. Plus, 4 ⁦@AHS_Orioles⁩ alum who are returning to teach here! Excited to welcome students on Wed.

Enjoyed talking with many students, parents, & community ⁦@OrioleTweets⁩ tent at Natl Night Out tonight. A couple ⁦@AHS_Orioles⁩ alum convinced me to try the dunk tank. I didn’t think they could do it - but they proved me wrong. Starting the school yr off w/ a splash!

Last ribbon cutting to celebrate the end of construction at Willow - excited to see so many families, staff, & students to tour the building!

⁦@avonsouth⁩ Ribbon Cutting wrapped up a full day! New performing arts space, renovated media center, refreshed corridors, renovated cafeteria….lots of updates to welcome students!

Ribbon cutting for Evergreen Elementary. This school has been a middle, intermediate and now a K-5 elementary school. A great learning environment!

Indiana public schools excel at preparing students for college! 58% of high school students in Indiana complete at least one college course before graduation, the highest rate in the nation!

Hiring great teachers continues ⁦@OrioleTweets⁩! We’ve hired about 65 new teachers this summer and this was our latest group for onboarding. Thankful they chose to be Orioles!

Maybe it’s the former History teacher in me - but I get so excited at the transformation ⁦@avonsouth⁩. Still a lot of work in the next 15 days - but parts of this bldg have served ⁦@OrioleTweets⁩ students since the 1950s & it’s ready to serve more for years to come!

This afternoon we welcomed a whole new group of teachers (3rd-5th grade) who are growing in their teaching of reading & writing!

⁦@OrioleTweets⁩ K-2 teachers getting training on our new English/Language Arts resource this morning. Thankful so many teachers gave up a summer day to be ready for start of school!

A whole lot of work has happened in ⁦@OrioleTweets⁩ schools this summer - including converting 2 intermediate schools to K-5 elementary schools. Made real when I saw new signage go up! Outside made even better without portable classrooms!

What to do when rained out on vacation? Play Avonopoly….Class of 1999 Econ class Project that ⁦@AHS_Orioles⁩ alum brought on vacation. A lot has changed on the board - only 4 Avon Elem Schools & 1 Middle School. FrostBite, Donato’s, & a few others still around!
