Purgatorial. One of cinema's finest forays into the desert. My ★★★★★ review of Bitter Victory (1957) on @letterboxd: boxd.it/asZPLh
Genuine question: I have no idea what Chinese "non-interference" actually means. Selling military equipment is involvement. Interfacing with in the Myanmar conflict is interference. Taking explicit sides in a conflict (China-Pakistan) is involvement.
Like it or not, China has no interest in taking up the role of world police primarily because it isn’t a sustainable model. They instead pursue a policy of strict non-interference because interreliance via trade is a stabilizing mechanism amidst the global chaos the US is sowing

Its not a special pleading issue; the division of workers into migrants and "native" labor is a division of the working class and every attempt to further intimidate migrants is not so much about kicking those people out as it is regulating the labor market
One of the downstream effects of modern leftism emerging mostly from disillusioned liberals is how being extremely pro-Immigration continues as a vestigial Special Pleading issue from the Muslim Ban. It’s not ideologically consistent with Marxism, nor is it internally consistent.
Happy 242nd birthday Simón Bolívar! one of the most important, and vindicated, men in the last 300 years. Flawed, and full of contradiction, he was unfortunately right that the United States was destined by Providence to plague all of America with misery in the name of liberty.
I love this song
16 years ago today, July 24 2009, the Tonggang Incident occurred in Tonghua, Jilin province. Steel workers of Tonghua Iron beat the leading capitalist Chen Guojun to death after he told the workers 25,000 of them would lose their jobs because of privatisation.

A lot of people on here have what I'd call a "Noble Savage" view of Chinese people
For far too long, we have had a conflation between the ballot line and the question of party, or a statement that these issues are conflated which leaves it at that. Understanding the problems ballot lines bring doesnt mean accepting being a faction in the Democrats in perpetuity
New in Light & Air, comrades Connell H and Amy W go in depth for the motivation of R-07, Principles of Party Building, and argue for a strategy of "party surrogate in form, clean break in content"
Yep this is still an Avalyn favorite My ★★★★★ review of Charulata (1964) on @letterboxd: boxd.it/ascTFT
