Australia’s relationship with Malaysia is based on mutual respect and a shared interest in a peaceful, stable and prosperous region. It was an honour to meet @anwaribrahim again to discuss our partnership as we celebrate 70 years of Australia’s diplomatic ties with Malaysia.
I also met with my friend @tokmatn9 on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meetings. I congratulated Malaysia on its leadership as 2025 ASEAN Chair. Australia is working with Malaysia and ASEAN to build a better future for our region, together.
Australia is Timor-Leste’s largest development partner, and we are proud to support Timor-Leste’s ASEAN accession. At the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Malaysia, I told my counterpart Bendito Freitas that we’ll continue to support Timor-Leste’s economic resilience.
