This granite lug vessel was found in an early Dynastic grave, dated to 2,700 BC. This vessel is so round that parts of its body have circularity measurements below one-thousandth of an inch. (0.001) Early Egyptians didn’t have tools capable of such precision (that we know of)

This brilliant lug vessel is made from trachyte porphyry, a rare volcanic rock found near Mount Kilimanjaro. The large feldspar crystals would have made this incredibly challenging to create. Discovered in a 5,200 year old burial, there are very few of these left in the world.
