This 1860s photograph depicts the Ashokan Pillar at Lauriya-Nandangarh in the Champaran District of Bihar. The monolithic pillar is topped with a lion figure seated on a bell-shaped, fluted abacus, and it bears an Ashokan inscription inscribed in the Brahmi script. #vintagevibes

On 1 April 1937, Muhammad Yunus became the 1st Premier of Bihar under the Government of India Act of 1935. His cabinet included Abdul Wahab Khan as Revenue Minister, Kumar Ajit Singh Deo as Local Self-Government Minister, and Babu Guru Sahay Lal as Minister for River Development.

Depicts a battle scene in which Daud Khan Karrani of Bengal has been taken prisoner on 12 July 1576. Daud is shown in the centre of the image with his hands bound together, before Khan Jahan Husain Quli, at Bhagalpur. He is surrounded by Mughal cavalry. He was executed.

A rare 1897 scene of laborers departing the Jamalpur Railway Workshops, Bihar. Established in 1862, Jamalpur was the first major town staffed entirely by railway workers. India’s 1st loco, Lady Curzon, was built here in 1899.

Mir Waris Ali of Muzaffarpur, was hanged on 6 July 1857 for rebelling against the British Empire, continuously reciting Kalma before being hanged & addressed to people present that if anyone present was an associate of Delhi's Emperor, he should come forward to help him.
