1/6. Inspired by the attached slide from @adamcifu on why doctors overestimate their skills, I have generalised the list to why CEOs/Directors/leaders probably suffer the same bias. Each item seemed like a note to myself (except the high compensation 😀)

Very interesting work with worrying results for India. Indian women are currently hitting menopause around 45, about 5 years earlier than the West. I wonder if compared to past generations, we are aging faster despite a higher avg life expectancy (fewer infection deaths etc).
Ovaries age 2.5x faster than other tissues—making them perfect models for testing anti-aging drugs. New finding: Your longevity is predicted by when your mother hits menopause. Late maternal menopause = longer life for ALL her children. The implications are staggering 🧵 📰New…

writing the code is the easy part now. the bottlenecks are: - defining the right product (insight, taste, timing) - distribution (narrative, audience, partnerships) - design that feels alive - data access (auth, api, privacy) - user motivation & trust (esp. w/ ai) - platform…

The virtual panel of physicians with different approaches is one of those great ideas that is super obvious in retrospect.
Microsoft AI built MAI-DxO to simulate a virtual panel of physicians with different approaches collaborating to find a diagnosis on each case. They also included the ability to set a budget to avoid infinite testing (higher costs, longer wait times, etc.).

Healthy aging is sometimes described in three dimensions - musculoskeletal, cognition, immunity. Revving up the immune system in older people seems to prevent cognitive decline, as shown here, suggesting that the boundaries are blurred
Not just shingles vaccine, but also RSV vaccine reduces the risk of dementia, which highlights the benefit of revving up the immune system in older individuals nature.com/articles/s4154…

Glad to be part of this. We are close to designer life and by mistake or by intent, AI can amplify bio risks
AI amplifying biorisk has been a major topic in policy & governance work. Does the available evidence match this level of attention? In this cross-institutional work, we review the evidence to-date to provide grounded recommendations. Read the paper: arxiv.org/abs/2412.01946
