The statement can be found here but should sound alarm bells for all. Many of us in Sheffield pushed for the committee system after the tree felling scandal, allowing all councillors a say in how our city is run. This cannot go ahead questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-statem…

It appears Labour's anti-democratic leanings continue. Today, Minister Jim McMahon announced that the government is seeking to abolish the committee system that some councils, including Sheffield and Bristol, operate under, instead preferring the old leader and cabinet model
