#OTD in 1970 thousands of people lined the banks of the River Avon to welcome the SS Great Britain back to #Bristol for her eventual restoration in the dock where she was built. It was a wonderful day! @SSGreatBritain 👏 😊 ❤️
#OnThisDay in 1970 the world-changing SS Great Britain arrived back home to Bristol. Looking vastly different to when the ship left the dock in 1843, she was still greeted by cheers from the people of Bristol who celebrated her return. 🙌 (1/3)
